Executive Committee

The executive members of the Board of Directors include the President, First Vice-President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. The board also has two directors at large.

President, John L Danise Jr., has been coaching for the past 40+ years. A Professional Tennis Registry Pro since 1991, he is one of the 500 tennis teaching Professionals who have successfully completed the USTA High Performance Coaching program.

Recognized Nationally & Internationally he has been a previous speaker at the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, the National High School Coaches Association and numerous other events and business groups.

Besides coaching the Sebastian River High School Girls Tennis team the last eight years, (Scripps News Paper, “2004 Tennis Coach of the Year” for the Treasure Coast) he has also taken eight teams to the AAU Junior Olympic Games, coached at the Team Florida Challenge and coached at the World Scholar Athlete Games.

John was the second President of the Professional Tennis Registry Florida Section and is a year removed from serving eight years as a Board member of the United States Tennis Association / Florida Section, is Tennis Chairman of the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, is President of the Florida High School Tennis Coaches Association and a member of the Board of Directors for the National High School Coaches Association.

First Vice-President, Michael Kypriss, a USTA/PTR High Performance Coach and Dr. Krop Sr. High Tennis coach, he is also Region 3 Director for the NHSACA. A former Coach of the Year, who has accumulated nine State Championships, he also owns the Michael Kypriss Tennis Academy, at Presidential Country Club in Aventura Florida.

Vice-President, John Pouzzner, is a USPTA tennis professional who coaches the Girls Tennis team at Montverde Academy. A former Tennis Chairman of the NHSACA, he has been named NHSACA Coach of the Year and has been inducted into two Halls of Fame.

Secretary, Thad E.Boggs, Jr is a retired US Navy helicopter pilot who joined the Mandarin High School teaching staff in 1994. Married with a daughter in college, he is the asst. coach for basketball & football. He has been the tennis coach since 1995 and in 2001 his team was District1-4A Tennis Champions.

Treasurer, Emilio J. Gonzalez is a USPTA & Professional Tennis Registry Pro who has coached tennis in Dade Public Schools for the past 34 years. He has coached the boys & girls tennis at Miami Sunset High School the last 28 years, during which time his teams have compiled 14 State Tennis Team Championships.

Director at large, Gary Pigott, is currently an Associate Director of Athletics with the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) in Gainesville. Mr. Pigott has been a member of the FHSAA Staff since 1991 and currently administers the sports of football, boys basketball, boys and girls tennis and flag football. He is a registered USTA official and officiates ITA matches at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Mr. Pigott played collegiate tennis at Indian River Community College (IRCC) in Fort Pierce. His IRCC tennis team participated in the NJCAA National Tournament in Tyler, Texas.

Director at large, John Macdonald, USTA School Tennis Coordinator, is a veteran of thirty-three years in public education, twenty-seven of which were as principal or assistant principal at all levels pre-k to 12th grade. John comes to the USTA after having been a state consultant to 12 counties and their public schools for the state of Georgia. He has been a frequent speaker at state and national education conventions presenting on topics including effective teaching and administrative practices, technology, math, and science. He has served on the Governor's Council for Developmental Disabilities and, while serving as a high school principal in Georgia, the Georgia Council for Teachers of Mathematics. John is a PTR "Professional," a Pro-1 USPTA member for over 30 years, and is a life member of the USTA.
